Parking Information

Parking is generally available at the EDIC garage, a five-story, indoor parking facility owned by the City of Boston and operated by EDIC. It is located across from the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal. AMPLE PARKING--NO RESERVATIONS REQUIRED.

In the event that long-term parking is not available in the garage, Massport will direct passengers to an alternative parking location when you arrive at the terminal.

Note: Cruise passengers pay for parking when entering the garage. Follow signs for cruise parking to a toll booth attendant who will issue a decal to indicate you've paid in advance.

 

Driving Directions

Upon Departure: Proceed first to Black Falcon Cruise Terminal. Drop off luggage and passengers in the designated areas. Proceed to parking by exiting the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal, turning left onto Black Falcon Avenue, then right onto Designer Center Way. The garage is directly across from the Boston Design Center.

Cruise Port Parking and Directions

From the North (coming south on I93):
On the Expressway downtown, take exit marked "South Station". At the top of the exit ramp, turn left onto Summer Street. Continue on Summer Street for approximately 1.5 miles to the intersection of Summer Street and Drydock Avenue. Turn left into the entrance to the Boston Marine Industrial Park. The Black Falcon Terminal is the first right turn (onto Design Center Place).

From the South:

Traveling on Interstate 93 North, or the Southeast Expressway, pass through the South Station tunnel underneath downtown Boston/Chinatown. In the tunnel's right lane will be an off-ramp for Atlantic Avenue/Northern Avenue. Take this exit, staying to the right lane. At the top of the ramp travel through the light onto the Evelyn Moakley Bridge. Follow Seaport Boulevard/Northern Avenue into the Boston Marine Industrial Park (BMIP). As you enter the BMIP, take the first right onto Harbor Street and the next left onto Drydock Avenue. Take the next right (Design Center Place) which will lead you directly to the terminal.

From the Mass Turnpike East:

Follow the Mass Turnpike East (Interstate 90) to the end. When you see signs "Turnpike Ends", stay to your right and exit at the off-ramp marked "Atlantic Avenue". Stay right and follow signs for Atlantic Avenue. Continue on Atlantic Avenue until you reach the James Hook Lobster Company. Just before James Hook turn right onto the Evelyn Moakley Bridge. Follow Seaport Boulevard/Northern Avenue into the Boston Marine Industrial Park (BMIP). As you enter the BMIP, take the first right onto Harbor Street and the next left onto Drydock Avenue. Take the next right (Design Center Place) which will lead you directly to the terminal.

From the North (coming south on I93):

On the expressway downtown, inside the Liberty Tunnel, take Exit #23 (Purchase Street). At the top of the ramp, go to the traffic signal, and turn left onto Seaport Boulevard. Continue on Seaport Boulevard to the fifth traffic light (this is where Seaport Blvd becomes Northern Ave). Continue straight into the Boston Marine Industrial Park, following Northern Avenue to the end where you take a right onto Tide Street, and an immediate left onto Drydock Avenue. Follow Drydock Avenue as it turns right at the end of the Boston Design Center. Turn right again onto Black Falcon Avenue, traveling straight to the stop sign, where you will be directed by Port Officers for either passenger drop-off or to the parking garage.

From the South:

Take I-93 north to Boston, take (new) Exit 20 to I-90 east/Logan Airport. You will travel into a new tunnel toward Logan. Inside the tunnel, take Exit 25/South Boston. At the traffic lights, you will be at Congress Street. Continue forward onto East Service Drive. At the next signal, turn right onto Seaport Boulevard. Continue straight onto Northern Avenue and proceed into the Marine Industrial Park. Continue to the end and turn right onto Tide Street and an immediate left onto Drydock Avenue. Follow Drydock Avenue as it turns right at the end of the Boston Design Center. Turn right again onto Black Falcon Avenue, traveling straight to the stop sign, where you will be directed by Port Officers for either passenger drop-off or to the parking garage.

From the West (Mass. Turnpike, I-90 Eastbound):

Follow the Mass. Pike east toward Logan Airport. Pass the I-90/I-93 interchange and enter a tunnel eastbound. In the tunnel, take Exit 25/South Boston. At the traffic lights, you will be at Congress Street. Continue forward onto B Street. At the next signal, turn right onto Seaport Boulevard. Continue straight onto Northern Avenue and proceed into the Marine Industrial Park. Continue to the end and turn right onto Tide Street and an immediate left onto Drydock Avenue. Follow Drydock Avenue as it turns right at the end of the Boston Design Center. Turn right again onto Black Falcon Avenue, traveling straight to the stop sign, where you will be directed by Port Officers for either passenger drop-off or to the parking garage.

From Logan Airport (TW Tunnel, Mass. Turnpike, I-90 Westbound):

Follow signs for the Ted Williams Tunnel ($3 toll). From the right lane, take the first exit – Exit 25/South Boston. At the traffic lights, you will be at Congress Street. Continue forward onto B Street. At the next signal, turn right onto Seaport Boulevard. Continue straight onto Northern Avenue and proceed into the Marine Industrial Park. Continue to the end and turn right onto Tide Street and an immediate left onto Drydock Avenue. Follow Drydock Avenue as it turns right at the end of the Boston Design Center. Turn right again onto Black Falcon Avenue, traveling straight to the stop sign, where you will be directed by Port Officers for either passenger drop-off or to the parking garage.

Black Falcon Transportation

Cruiseport Boston, operating at the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal in the South Boston Waterfront District, is one of the most popular cruise ports in North America for a very good reason – its proximity to the City of Boston. To help passengers make the most of their Port of Call, a first class, round-trip shuttle is now in operation to get you where you're going safely, efficiently, and comfortably.

Shuttles depart every 15 minutes from the Cruise Terminal on Port of Call days, approximately from the time passengers are first allowed to leave their vessel, until the time advertised by the vessel as the last opportunity to re-board.

FARE SCHEDULE FOR TROLLEY SHUTTLE:

April through August: $8.00 one way $12.00 round trip
September & October: $10.00 one way $15.00 round trip

Public Transportation

Taxis also serve the Black Falcon Terminal during ship calls.

Amenities

Restrooms, pay phones, and baggage pickup and drop-off are available. There are no facilities available for storage of baggage or personal items

Preparing for Your Trip

All checked and carry-on baggage will be screened.

Wear comfortable, roomy clothing, low-heeled, leather or canvas shoes. Slip-on shoes without ties are also recommended.

Bring a note from your physician if you have surgical implants of any type.

Proper identification is a must. All adults need either a PHOTO ID issued by a government authority or TWO other forms of identification at least ONE of which must be issued by a government authority.

For international travel, adults and minors will also need a PASSPORT and any necessary VISAS. All passengers must possess a valid passport or birth certificate with raised seals and photo identification.

Packing for Your Trip

Pack prescriptions, travel and identification documents, jewelry and valuables in your carry-on bag.

Remember that most cruise lines will only accept checked baggage that is presented no later that 30-minutes prior to departure.

Pack personal care items (hairspray, shaving cream, deodorant, perfume, etc.) in checked baggage or purchase them on board to avoid delays or confiscation of items.

Label luggage, laptops and cell phones to prevent loss during screening.

Have medical documentation readily available for syringes or injection devices.

Leave gifts UNWRAPPED as security personnel may ask that packages be opened.

Avoid carrying or packing white powdery substances.

All cameras and film will be x-rayed. The process will not damage film with an ASA rating of 1600 or below. If concerned, purchase film on-board or at your destination.

Prohibited Items

Fireworks, flares or other explosives.

Household cleaners or solvents: * at the cruise ships discretion.

Flammable liquids or solids.

Weapons and firearms, knives, ammunition, gunpowder, mace, tear gas or pepper spray, etc.

Dry ice, gas-powdered tools, wet cell batteries, camping equipment with fuel and radioactive substances: * at the cruise ships discretion.

At Security Screening

Avoid carrying liquid containers or beverages through the security checkpoint.

Limit metal worn on person.

Limit electronic devices in carry-on baggage to prevent delays.

Remove all laptop computers from case prior to screening.

DO NOT bring cutting objects to security screening.

YOU MUST carry professionally labeled medication if you intend to transport a syringe or injection device through security.

Only ticketed passengers will be allowed beyond checkpoints.

Keep identification accessible as you may be asked to present identification multiple times prior to boarding.

At the Gate

Never leave baggage unattended or accept packages from others.

Report unattended packages or baggage to cruise terminal security personnel.

Do not joke about security matters.

Be prepared for a greater security presence at the port. Be aware other security measures are in place that are not readily apparent.

Keep identification and travel documents available for inspection at all times.

Be prepared to have baggage and electronic devices randomly inspected as requested.
